International Scientific Conference “Mathematics in the Constellation of Sciences”

On April 1 students and teachers of the Institute of Russian Language and Culture participated in the International Scientific Conference “Mathematics in the Constellation of Sciences”, which was dedicated to the anniversary of Viktor Antonovich Sadovnichiy, the rector of Moscow State University.
The conference became a platform for a dialogue about the state and development prospects of fundamental and applied mathematics. The participants discussed the system of highly qualified personnel training for scientific-research work and teaching in the field of Mathematics and Related Areas of Science taking into account the need to update the current Concept of mathematics education in accordance to the objectives of the Strategy for the Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation.
In his speech the rector Viktor Sadovnichiy noted: “The development of mathematical knowledge is one of the main ways of development of science and modern civilisation all over the world. It is supported by the achievements of domestic mathematical scientific schools thanks to which our country made an important scientific and technological breakthrough. Today we face the challenge of preserving and developing the heritage including through the improvement of the quality of mathematics and natural-science education. Moscow State University plays a special role in it”.
