IRLC representative visits the Festival of Russian culture in Seoul
14 june 2018The Institute of Russian Language and Culture and Cultural Educational Center "Pushkin house" have been good partners for many years. Recently we've added one more project to our list of common projects.
IRLC teacher E. Kalmykova participated as a member of jury in the Russian language competition that was one of the events held during annual Pushkin festival in Seoul on the 2-6 of June.
The Russian language competition took place in one of the oldest universities in Korea - Korea University. It included essay, recitation and drawing contests. All students from Korean high schools who study Russian language as foreign could participate in these contests.
During the recitation contest students not only showed good knowledge and understanding of the texts (this year they could choose between "The song of the Stormy Petrel" and "The Song of a Falcon" by Maxim Gorky), but also demonstrated extraordinary artistic skills. It was very difficult to decide who the winner should be. The drawings contest was also dedicated to the Maxim Gorky works because this year we celebrate 150th anniversary of this writer. For essays the students were to choose one of three topics offered by the organizers. The winners of this contest are yet to be announced.
One of the events of the Festival was the round table dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Maxim Gorky. Professors of the leading Korean universities (Seoul National University, Kyungpook University and Konkuk University) and two representatives from Moscow universities of Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts and A.M.Gorky Institute of World Literature participated in this meeting.
On Monday, June, 4, another event of Pushkin Festival took place in Lotte Hotel. This was annual Pushkin Recitals, an event organized by the "Pushkin House" center, the Embassy of Russian Federation in South Korea and FA "Rossotrudnichestvo". When the recitals finished all participants laid flowers to the Pushkin monument, established in the center of Seoul.
