"Russian Saturdays" - meeting 09.11.2024
11 november 2024Another meeting of “Russian Saturdays” was held on November 9. The international cultural and educational online project gathers a large number of listeners from various countries and Russian cities and towns every time. About 300 people from 25 countries and 62 towns took part in the project this time.
The meeting was dedicated to the anniversaries of the birth of Russian Soviet literature classics, Siberian writers. Viktor Astafyev would turn 100 and Vasily Shukshin would be 95.
The meeting was opened by Vice Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, academician of RAE Tatyana Kortava and President of the Association of Russian Speakers of Slovakia Eva Kollarova. Tatyana Kortava summed up the results of the International Congress of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature, in which that meeting was
held, and suggested watching a wonderful video which was created by MSU students and dedicated to the 225-th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin. Eva Kollarova set the listeners up for an interesting discussion about good meaningful literature in her bright and unforgettable way.
The meeting which was hosted by rector of Maxim Gorky Institute of Literature and Creative Writing Alexey Varlamov who knew Viktor Astafyev personally and Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language and Culture Valerii Chastnykh turned to be fascinating and informative as usual. They discussed similarities and differences of Shukshin’s and Astafyev’s works, originality of their styles and perception of reality. The colleagues from the Siberian Federal University Vladimir Vasilyev and Irina Bashkova joined in the conversation. To know more about life paths of Vasily Shukshin and Viktor Astafyev, readers can visit their homeland which is located in Altai village Srostki and Krasnoyarsk village Ovsyanka where there are their Memorial Museums. Tatyana Zykova and Marina Toropchina told about the museums.
Also, the film “Onegin in Illustrations” was show at the end of the online-meeting.
